During my stay in Tokyo in March 2026, I found myself returning to Kai Soba Moomu (貝そば もぉむ) in Shibaura three times. Tucked away on the ground floor of an unassuming residential apartment building, this local shop serves deeply flavorful yet incredibly clean seafood-based ramen.

Located a short walk from Tamachi Station in a residential zone, Moomu has a strong local neighborhood vibe. Ordering is done via a traditional Japanese ticket vending machine near the door, which accepts cash only. For international travelers, it might feel like a minor hurdle to find and order, so deciding what you want to try before stepping inside will make your visit much smoother!
Clean Seafood Broth with a Surprisingly Elegant Twist🍜
The moment you take your first spoonful of soup, an involuntary “wow” escapes your lips. Rich seafood umami fills your mouth—yet unlike heavy, oily seafood soups, it is remarkably light, clean, and refreshing with a deep, lingering flavour.
Combinations like “Seafood & Beef Broth” or “Clam & Squid” might sound unexpected at first, but the pairing is executed with absolute precision. The straight, smooth noodles glide down easily, and you’ll find yourself unable to stop scooping up “just one more spoonful” of broth until the bowl is clean.
Compared to other seafood-centric ramen spots like Okurindo (which skews rich and heavy), Moomu offers a delightfully clean, refined Chuka-soba style experience.
