🗣 English Support & Practical Notes

The lunch menu consists of a small number of Japanese set meals, making ordering relatively straightforward even without Japanese language skills.

English communication is possible at a basic level, and staff are generally helpful when explaining dishes.

Because the restaurant uses private rooms for all seating, it offers a quieter environment than many casual lunch spots. This makes it suitable for relaxed lunches, small meetings, or solo diners who prefer a calm atmosphere.

Returning for Lunch After an Omakase Dinner

This visit was my second time at Shizukuya.

On my previous visit, I had dinner here and tried their omakase course, which left a positive impression.
This time, I returned to see how their lunch compared.

For lunch, I ordered the chicken tempura and crab cream croquette set.

Another dish at the table was the tuna namero set (unfortunately I forgot to photograph it).

The lunch sets are simple and satisfying rather than elaborate.

  • Flavor – comforting Japanese home-style flavors
  • Portion – more than enough for lunch
  • Rice – nicely cooked and enjoyable on its own

Nothing flashy, but very dependable.

A Competitive Lunch Area

Tamachi actually has a surprisingly strong selection of Japanese lunch spots in the ¥1,200–¥2,000 range.

Restaurants like:

  • Hamada
  • Kappo Odajima

offer similar traditional fish-based lunches.

Within this competitive field, Shizukuya stands out for one reason: private room seating.

Being able to enjoy a quiet lunch in a private space is somewhat rare in this price range.

Atmosphere

All seating is in private rooms.

The space keeps much of the calm atmosphere of a kappo restaurant in the evening, allowing guests to enjoy lunch at a slower pace.

The restaurant is located slightly away from the main street, giving it the feeling of a place known more by locals than casual passersby.

Final Thoughts

Rating: ★4.1 / 5

A comfortable and reliable Japanese lunch option in Tamachi.

The combination of private rooms, reasonable prices, and solid cooking makes it an easy place to return to when you want a calm midday meal.
