🗣 English Support & Practical Notes
English communication is possible at a basic level, and staff are generally willing to help explain dishes when needed.
Dinner is served as an omakase course, which makes ordering straightforward for visitors. Once the course is selected, the kitchen prepares a sequence of seasonal Japanese dishes.
All seating is in private rooms, creating a relaxed and comfortable environment. The rooms are not completely soundproof, however, so conversations from nearby tables may occasionally be heard.
This restaurant works well for couples, small groups, and casual business dinners.
Authentic Kappo-Style Omakase
For this visit, I chose the Kisaragi seasonal course.
If the nearby WAshu WAshoku leans toward modern Japanese cuisine, Shizukuya represents a more authentic kappo-style approach. The direction is clear from the menu and the overall atmosphere.

One memorable element of the meal was a three-tier dish arrangement, symbolizing the harmony of heaven, earth, and humanity — a concept sometimes reflected in traditional Japanese presentation.

The dishes themselves were consistently satisfying and centered around gentle, well-balanced dashi flavors.
Highlights included:
- Chicken tempura, fried lightly and cleanly
- Fresh sashimi, simple and excellent
- Saikyo-style simmered fish, deeply traditional in flavor
- Oboro chazuke, a comforting rice dish with rich broth

The overall impression was a style of cooking that prioritizes comfort and authenticity over modern reinterpretation.
Atmosphere
The restaurant offers private rooms for all guests, allowing for a relaxed dining experience.
It’s a setting where you can sit comfortably and enjoy the course at an unhurried pace.
Because the rooms are not fully soundproof, nearby conversations can sometimes be heard. This makes the restaurant suitable for casual business dinners, but perhaps less ideal for highly confidential discussions.

I would happily return — and the lunch menu also looks promising.
